You may think of accountability as the grades or numbers on a report card that your child brings home every few weeks. But, just as your child is evaluated, so too is his or her school and district. Texas has had an accountability system in place for 18 years and is in the process of developing a new and more rigorous system for implementation in 2013.
A school’s reputation is strongly connected to the accountability rating it receives, and that, in turn, depends on the performance of its students. This section will walk you through how curriculum, accountability ratings, and student testing and advancement are interwoven.
